15 Important Things I Learned By Age 22

It's a funny thing to turn 22. It's not 16, and it's not 21...it's like embarking on an entirely new trip of life.

In my 22 years I've learned a few things, both in experiences, and in failures. There is still a lot for me to discover, but here are a few things I've gotten a grasp on.

I Tried Tinder for the First Time for 5 Days

The stories I've heard of Tinder helped me decide that I would never try the app. It didn't seem like a thing I wanted to get into, and I felt it wasn't something I would enjoy.

After much (I am not kidding, it took me about a month to build up the courage to download the app) consideration, I took the dive into the unknown world of online dating.

I downloaded Tinder, set up my account, and started swiping.

Day 1

There were a lot of left swipes, a lot of shirtless guys, a lot of fish holding pictures. Also, why do guys love to post group shots so you never know which one he is?

3 Spring Trends & Making Them Work

There are new fashion trends every season. Whether it's the baker boy hats for fall, and winter or the extremely slow return of fanny packs, there is something everyone is wearing.

Spring is only a few days away, and stores everywhere are stocking up in spring clothing, accessories, and shoes. There has also been a sudden surge in popular spring trends, let's be honest, it can be hard to have the confidence to rock some of these looks. But I think everything is worth a try!

1. Berets

Source

Berets have been slowly coming into the wardrobes of fashion mavens, and celebrities alike. They give an outfit the perfect flirty touch.

If you're like me, you might be afraid of trying this trend out. My head is on the larger side which might make a beret look disproportionate.

Don't be afraid to go out to physically try these on. There are different colors, shapes, some lean to the left, some to the right, some lean backwards, they have studs, and rings. There is what seems like an endless amount of berets to suit your own personal style!

5 Activities For When You're Feeling Glum

I am the first person to admit that I am not always happy. I don't think anyone is ever always happy. We all have days when we're sad, melancholic, nervous, agitated, frustrated, stressed...the list could go on forever!

I have noticed trends of emotions in my own life. I'll have a few weeks of average happiness, when I have some normal stress but I am not constantly thinking about it. Then I'll feel myself beginning to slip down the slipper slope of sadness, and anxiety.

If you're ever feeling a little down, or under the weather, here are some things that might give you an emotional boost!

1. Read a book

You can pick up that book you've been eyeing for a while now, or you can re-read a favorite! No one said you couldn't read a book twice!

Fear of Failure

I'm a senior in college, I'll be graduating in May, and I don't know how that's an actual sentence coming out of my mouth. It doesn't even feel like I won't be going back to school after this summer. All my life I've held on desperately to the idea of summer, and free time but then there is always that "going back to structure" feeling. I always go back to school at the end of August...not this year.

I have this fear of failure. I'm majoring in Communcation (with a film concentration), and minoring in Journalism. It feels like I can go into so many fields: television, movies, magazines, newspapers, newsrooms, communication office jobs...so many options! But then I consider how difficult it is to break into this industry.

New Year Goals Are Not A Requirement

With a new year comes this idea that you need to create a list of super strict goals for yourself. We often hear "new year, new me" but that doesn't mean that you need to completely rid of your old habits.
