VMAs 2014

Hello, I've just realized that I never made a post about the VMAs and all the fabulous events that went down.
Reason for that is that I had part 2 of college orientation on Monday and Tuesday and then Wednesday I needed some serious rest and then Thursday and Friday (today) I had school!

Moving on, to the VMAs!
If you didn't tune in then you've probably read up on all the performers and winners on another site or all you had to do, really, was scroll down your Twitter feed.

So the red carpet was full of stars, left and right there was someone worthy of attention!
The red carpet/pre-show performers this year were Fifth Harmony (!!!!!!!!!!) and Charlie XCX. Prepping viewers for the show with their singles, "BO$$" and "Boom Clap".
Fifth Harmony even did a nice little strut down the red carpet and into the audience (after releasing yet another song, "Them Girls Be Like", from their extremely anticipated and overdue debut album "Reflection")

The VMAs were opened with Ariana Grande belting out her recent single "Break Free" and soon after Nicki Minaj joined her and sang a part of her recent single "Anaconda" and boy did she work it up there....
Then Jessie J joined the two with her part in "Bang Bang" in which Ariana Grande and Nicki Minaj joined to blend their voices together for their recent collaboration.

(Nicki's wardrobe malfunction wasn't immediately obvious to me, I thought it was part of the performance for a second but soon realized..nope)

We had other amazing performances by Sam Smith (aaaaaaaamazing), 5 Seconds of Summer (who took home a moon man for Best Lyric Video, after a pretty heated battle between Demi Lovato and her Lovatics), Iggy Azalea was joined by Rita Ora for their recent collar "Black Widow", Taylor Swift, Maroon 5, and to close the show, Beyoncé.

OH NO! Ashton! I seriously could not find a better picture in which we could get all 4:(
Moon Men awarded:
Video of the Year: Wrecking Ball - Miley Cyrus
Best Pop Video: Problem - Ariana Grande ft. Iggy Azalea
Best Male Video: Sing - Ed Sheeran
Artist to Watch: Fifth Harmony

(just to name a very small amount)

The Artist to Watch award was a battle of the bands.
5 Seconds of Summer vs. Fifth Harmony
I definitely think it was a close one, but Fifth Harmony took it hoooooomeee!! (I am so proud of these girls that I've loved since XFactor day one together).
I was so conflicted for this award that I didn't actually vote.

But let's not get too upset, because both the guys of 5SOS and the gals of 5H took home a moon man!

Kinda upset that One Direction weren't even up for one award this year...maybe 2015?

The VMAs are definitely one music award show I look forward to, so I cannot wait for VMAs 2015, maybe they'll be back in NYC?

Did any of your favorites take home an award? Or were you disappointed?

love, J

All That is Wrong With the Teen Choice Awards

The Teen Choice Awards is something that I have liked for a long time, something I think many people like.
The only bad thing about the award show is...well...a few things actually.

As an 18 year old teenager I look forward to see what it is my peers and I ruled King and Queen of the past year. Although there is a bit of hype (not as much as VMA and KCA hype) I feel like many disregard it as an unimportant event.

As a teenager, this angers and upsets me. This is something that sort of represents the current generation of teenagers and it feels like this show is half done. If it isn't, I honestly think that the crew behind the production and planning of this award show could do a better job.
Although the 2013 Teen Choice Awards weren't bomb dot com, they were so much better than this last year's.
Let's take a look at some of the most memorable events of the 2013 TCAs..

Last year was definitely more lively. Although it wasn't perfect, it was fun.
This year's TCA left me hoping for more, left me hanging.

I don't know if anyone else feels this way, maybe it is just me? But it is something that has been bothering me for a while now and I just want to put it out there.
This year we saw a change in the nominations, all of a sudden we had webstars up for surfboards and all the people we know and love from the internet were up there with the big guys and gals!
I loved the YouTube nominations, I think those people are amazing and do take a lot of time and effort to record/edit/upload all the videos that they do (uploading YouTube videos is a PAIN, editing....oof) and they most definitely deserved some recognition and thanks for their time and patience.
As for the Viners, I don't know if it was quite time for them to be nominated. I feel like that's something that takes time, of course I do love Vine, and I use it all the time, who doesn't like Vine? It's a place to go and get creative and make people laugh within 6 six seconds. But I just don't think the time was right for that set of nominees. Just my opinion.

As for the show itself, I think that it really is lacking a lot. It is very loosely done, there is nothing that really catches my eye and makes me think "WOW, what a show!" like the VMAs. I know they don't compare, but I feel like award shows that are aimed towards the youth, and for the youth are often considered unimportant. "Oh you know these foolish teenagers they don't care about anything so we'll give them a show like their personalities!"
I really do not like the way teenagers are labeled as careless humans who know nothing and only care about themselves. We're not all like that, and why is it a bad thing to be foolish and make mistakes? That's what it is like to grow up. Mistakes and errors are what make us mature adults.

The performances were cool, the nominees were cool, the acceptance videos were cool (yeah I'm talking to you One Direction and 5SOS). There were also many people in attendance that were cool but we hardly got any of them on the screen! Like Fifth Harmony...they were there and they presented an award that Bethany Mota and Tyler Oakley took home, but that's all we got of them, and I'm pretty sure they won an award that we didn't get to see them accept....
That's what it's like for many award shows, yeah ok, but let me rant here, ok.

One last thing about the TCAs that I'm not too sure who is in charge of but I'm just gonna stick it in here because it is something extremely strange. For the TEEN Choice Awards, you obviously have to be a teen to vote. You have contests in which you can enter to win a trip to the TCAs but when I tried to enter I wasn't allowed because I was not of age (ages 13-17?!) Then I go to vote and they have movies up for nominations that are rated R.....
So let me summarize what I'm trying to say if you haven't quite caught on..to vote you have to be a teenager, to enter certain TCA contests you must be at least 13 but not 18 and older, and then they nominate rated R movies, which all the teens allowed to enter the contest are not allowed to enter and watch alone..get what I'm saying? Makes no sense, age restrictions are weird sometimes.

I'm sure there is still a few things that bothered me and still bother me about the TCAs, but that's all at the top of my head. I really hope that the TCA committee come up with something much, much, MUCH better for 2015 because teenagers are people with expectations too.

I hope this wasn't mean, I'm really not trying to be mean, I just wanted to get my opinion out there so that maybe more people/teens will demand a better show and we will get one!

So TCA committee.....I'm expecting something big and amazing for 2015. I'll be waiting.

love, J

Forever 21, and H&M Goodies!

Hiiiii there!
The last time I made one of these posts was all the way back in June, and even though it hasn't been that long it does seem like it's been an extremely long time.
This summer has definitely seemed super long, I mean I have been out of school since May 16th...so that might have a bit to do with it.

So here I am again to share a little on my purchases of the day, considering back to school season is in swing. I see parents and their kids shuffling from place to place looking for clothing and supplies like it's nobody's business. Oh new school year what do you have in store for us all?

All my life I've worn a uniform to school, yup, I never had to worry about figuring out an outfit every single night. But now, I have graduated high school and I'm headed to college, which means, my own clothing, everyday.

I went to the mall today, and I found some nice little things that I might work for school or during my own fun little events outside of school!

The first store I went to was Forever 21 and I decided to get was a nice pair of shoes. I have wanted a pair of shoes like these for a long time, and I never really liked the ones I did see, but finally I found a pair that I decided I did like enough to take home.

Now they look a little brown in these pictures but, trust me, they're not! They're more of a maroon color that is more feminine than what they look like here.
I feel like these are nice shoes especially for the fall. I can wear them with skirts, shorts and dresses with or without tights!
These little ones cost me about $25. A decent price considering I could have found them on another high end website or store for a much pricier amount. I think that with the proper care, these shoes could last me a while!

The next thing I got was a skirt that looks like its denim. I think that this is cute to wear with a plain white t-shirt or any other proper colored t-shirt.

The picture shows off the back of the skirt, there is a little zipper in the back, the front is plain and simple.
This skirt cost be $9. SALES!

The next picture shows two pairs of jeans. The darker ones I purchased at Forever 21 and they cost around $8 (more sales!!!) the lighter distressed ones are from H&M.

I've wanted a nice pair of light, distressed jeans like the ones I got at H&M for some time now, although I was a little unsure on whether to get them or not, at the end of the day, I'm glad I did! They cost me $25, which is actually not bad at all! They'r really comfy, and the material is really nice so I think it was a pretty good deal!

I also purchased a plain, white long sleeved shirt for the winter. It's good for obvious reasons, under sweaters and other shirts and all that good warm stuff.

It wasn't much, but it definitely was something. A little at a time adds up to a lot, and I can make many outfits with what I already have and the things I bought today!
Although school is starting up again, there are plenty of things to look forward to!

I'm definitely excited for the holidays, and One Direction's new album! lol. What are you looking forward to?

One Direction - Where We Are Tour

This weekend I got the opportunity to experience One Direction's Where We Are tour.

Originally I was only attending Saturday, as you might remember from my "I'm Going to Where We Are?!" post a few weeks ago. The week of the concert, however, I received a text from a friend, who invited me to the Friday show. And how could one say no?

So I prepared for my 1D filled weekend.

Day 1 - Friday
Friday was a strange day for me, considering I was on the floor. I've never had the privilege of floor seating.
So the drive to Gillette Stadium was 3 hours, because the traffic was insane, I actually felt like I might go a little bit crazy after being sat in it for such a long time.
We got to the stadium at 6ish. We were running all over the place looking for the filed seating entry and when we finally found it, we went through the bag check and ticket scanning (and bathroom, hey it was three hours of wait!) FINALLY we got to our seats and we sat in awe of the fact of where we actually were.

That up there is an actual picture of my view. It's pretty darn snazzy and it was an unforgettable experience!
We sat a bit late, almost 7pm (show time) so we only waited a few minutes for 5 Seconds of Summer to come out and kill it with their amazing set.

I made a little video compilation of some of the songs they performed from Day 2. The angle will be different because I sat in a different section! 5 Seconds of Summer put on an amazing show, and I'm so excited that I got to watch them perform, who knows, maybe one day I'll be making a post entirely on a 5 Seconds of Summer concert?
Amazing job, 5SOS!

The wait between 5SOS and One Direction was 1 hour, but it honestly flew by! Yeah, I was really excited for the 1D guys to come on since it had been about a year, almost 2 since I had last seen them.
They play music videos, and some movie trailers during the wait, and then the voices of the 1D guys come on a video on the big screens to talk to the crowd about safety during the concert.
After the video, some interactive music started playing, to get the crowd dancing and singing along. Macarena, Forget You, Summer Nights, You're the One That I Want, along with a few others that would get the crowd going.
Finally, when you LEAST EXPECT IT the entire stadium goes dark, minus the stage, and everyone is instantly out of their seats, cameras in the air, screams make your ears buzz. The musical band comes out, noise, pounding, and BAM the intro video begins to play on the screen! And my oh my, what a sound!
The crowd gets rallied up with clips of One Direction traveling the world in the silliest ways in attempt to reach the crowd at the stadium. Screams erupt when close ups of the boys appear on screen.
Finally, the middle screen slowly raises, they come out, Niall with guitar strapped on.
"Straight off the plane to a new hotel" Harry sings, fireworks, screams.
"Just touched down you could never tell" he finishes. The show has officially begun.

The guys have a few silly moments on stage, like when two snapbacks were thrown on stage, a Celtics one and a Patriots one and Niall asked the crowd which one he should put on. He went for Celtics then realized the stadium he was in and said "What am I doin? I'm in their stadium!" He then put on the Patriots hat and said "I look like a coach."

The experience was one that I won't be forgetting soon. If you've experienced a One Direction concert, you know how amazing it is, and if you have never attended one, I honestly and whole-heartedly hope that you get a chance to see them soon.
I have some pictures below!

I know the pictures aren't much, but I did take more video than pictures, I also promised myself to enjoy myself more than worry about filming every little detail like I had my last two One Direction concerts, because you're there for the experience, not the filming and technology, you're there to have an amazing time!

Day 2 - Saturday
On Saturday the trip was long as well, 3 hours. There was traffic, but less of it!
We got to the stadium a bit over an hour before doors opened, we parked and made our way to the stadium, purchased some merch and waited for the doors to open at 5:30pm.
While we were waiting, I got (halfway) stung by a bee. yup. My first time getting stung by a bee while waiting outside a stadium to be let into a One Direction concert. LOL.
It did hurt, and there were some sort of electrical shocks that would go through my finger, but I was OK, thank goodness I'm not allergic!
ANYWAY.
We were let in at 5:30 on the dot, and since it was quite hot out and the sun was hitting us directly, everyone started cheering (and hello! where were we being allowed in? pretty exciting)
We found our way to our seats, and although I was farther away than I had been the night before, I was able to appreciate the show from a different angle that allowed me to see everything in all its spectacular glory!
Of course, it isn't about where you sit at a One Direction concert, because many people would wish to be able to attend and sit anywhere. So always appreciate the tickets/seats you have!
The show was just as amazing as it had been the night before, the guys made all sorts of small talk with the crowd and they made everyone feel amazing!
Harry told the crowd he could see everyone, even the people in the food stands that were right behind the second level of the seating. Quite sweet, I think.
During the "Little Things" sing along they told the crowd to "scream it!" at the very end and boy did we. It was something like I've never heard before.

It is something truly amazing to witness with your own eyes. A crowd so passionately supporting the people they love so dearly, singing their music right back at them. Because the crowd wasn't only singing along to "Little Things" on Friday and Saturday night, they were singing along to all the songs. From "Strong" to "Diana" to "Don't Forget Where You Belong" to "What Makes You Beautiful" to "Moments" and "One Thing"
A few of those from album #1, Up All Night.

I have some pictures from night number 2 below.

Now, I'm sure there is still so much I could say about the amazing time I had at Where We Are, and how sweet and incredible the One Direction guys are, but I won't keep you all day. I took some videos at both shows, and I would like to apologize because there will be some screaming and singing. Some might be mine, some might be my friend's and some might just be random people because we were in such close proximity of each other. I would also like to apologize for the sound at some point of the One Direction video, it was very very very loud at the show, and I think the fact that I was so close that it sounds a little scratchy sometimes, because the videos I have from farther away don't sound like that.

The 5SOS video is from day 2 because the day 1 videos were not an option considering you can clearly hear my friend screaming and singing extremely loud. LOL. but it is a concert, right? That's what you do there, sing and scream and dance and just enjoy yourself.

If you're using headphones, start of with a low volume just in case and figure out what level you want to stay with!

Have you gone to WWA? What was your experience like? Is your WWA date coming up? How many days are left on your countdown?
And if you aren't going to WWA, stay hopeful and think positive, because the unexpected could happen at any moment!

love, J

5 Things to Make You Happy When You're Feeling Sad.

I think we all have those days, you know what I'm talking about, the days where nothing seems right and you just want to lay in the dark and drift in and out of sleep all day, left along to mope by yourself. Or those days where you want nothing to do with anyone else and you're so unhappy you don't seem to remember how happy you were just yesterday.

I know I have those days sometimes, and I really hate those days. Who wants to feel sad when there is so much to feel happy about?!

So, here are 5 little things that might help you, next time you're feeling a little under the weather!

1. Have a sweet
Go ahead and treat yourself to a chocolate bar, a lollipop, ICE CREAM. Have an iced coffee, or just a mug of coffee, a taffy or cookie. Anything sweet that you like, go for it, because it's pretty darn amazing to have a little yummy treat to lift your spirits!

2. Watch a movie / T.V series
It can be one you like, or one you've never watched! It can be fun looking out for something new that you never thought you'd be interested in. Watch something new, and there you are, a new favorite movie or t.v series to talk about with friends and family!

3. Watch YouTube videos
Wether you watch you favorite YouTuber's vlogs or you watch your favorite artist's interviews or concert shenanigans, I'm sure you'll smile more than once. Watching other's be goofy might help your own mood/feelings and make you feel happier!

3. Listen to music
You can never go wrong with listening to music. Put your headphones in and blast your favorite song or album, lay down, be by yourself for a little while. Block out the world and focus on yourself and your feelings. I guarantee your mood will be better, even if it is only a little bit better.
Let the music speak to you

5. Be creative!
You can hang out with friends, and be creative in the way you decide to spend your day/evening. You can read a book, you could write (writing your feelings and emotions can really lighten the load). Draw up a little cartoon, you can be gifted in drawing or you could draw stick figures! (like me). Just express yourself in a positive way rather than a negative way.

Those are just a few that were on the top of my head, things that I like to do when I'm feeling down. Like I said, express yourself in a positive way, not a negative one. There are so many ways you can cheer yourself up, begin sad is not something fun, and the best thing to try and do is lift your spirit, or  lift someone else's spirit! The activity can be small and seem almost insignificant, but I think you'd be surprised how much writing, drawing, listening, and watching can help you feel better. Also, who wouldn't smile with an ice cream cone in hand?!

Smile. Be positive. Love. Create.
